Producers Hybrids Sponsors Grain Bin Training

Ten members from Lincoln County (South Dakota) fire departments attended grain bin safety and rescue training at Elbow Lake, Minnesota on August 25, 2012.

The attendees spent an hour discussing grain bin safety in a classroom and the remainder of the day was hands-on training in the Outstate Data grain rescue tubes.  These tubes were purchased by Lincoln County Emergency Management and Eastern Farmers Coop.

Each participant was given the opportunity to be both a victim and also part of a rescue team to extract someone buried chest deep in corn.  Rescue team members were given instructions on how to enter a bin without bringing more grain down around the victim, how to install the grain rescue tube and how get the victim out of the bin safely.

Producers Hybrids contributed $ 750.00 towards registration and rooms for the event.  Brad Lamb, Regional Sales Manager for Producers Hybrids commented, “What a great opportunity for us to give back to our customers and Lincoln County.”
