Performance in the Field

Terry Thies (DSM – Region 4, Eastern Nebraska)

Well it’s been an interesting fall already…that is if you can call it fall. In all my years in the seed business I have never seen so many combines rolling in the fields in August as we are seeing in Southeast Nebraska. While riding in the combines, I have seen a lot of variance throughout the fields in moisture and yield due to the summer drought. Many guys are talking about product performance in hybrids and I am happy to say that our products are looking good and have been able to handle the drought. It also seems like the early maturities are doing a little better due to some pollination issues in some of the longer maturities, but who knows, next year it may be the opposite. Another thing that is showing up is the use of fertilizer – it is definitely paying off with better plant health and increased root mass.

Producers Hybrids is a fast growing company due to our excellent breeding and research programs which are proprietary to us. I am looking forward to serving you and your neighbor for years to come. Please make sure you stop by the Producers Hybrids building at Husker Harvest Days (September 11-13). See you then!
