It’s Harvest Time in Battle Creek!

It's Harvest Time in Battle Creek blog post imageTrucks are rolling into the Battle Creek production facility, filled with seed corn to be cleaned, sorted, bagged and delivered to YOUR field this spring! Have you thought about the process your seed goes through before it gets poured into your planter?

More than 400,000 bushels of seed corn will be rolling down the conveyor belts, sorters and sieves seven days a week during this year’s harvest. After it is harvested from a contract grower’s field, seed corn is hauled to the production facility, weighed and dumped onto a series of belts. From there, the ears pass through husking and sorting stations, then are dried, shelled, sorted and stored. When it comes time for bagging or treatment, the seed goes through state-of-the-art equipment that helps increase efficiency at the production facility. Once bags have been filled with superior seed, they are stored in our temperature-controlled warehouse until orders are received and planting begins in the spring.

The technology that goes into making sure your seed is #ready4more is remarkable! Our seed dryers are monitored around the clock and can be individually controlled to ensure proper temperatures and moisture levels are maintained, and our bagging system has a robotic arm for moving bags and boxes of seed. Beyond technology, our production facility employees and contract growers into making sure your seed is defiantly different. This ranges from the attention to detail in the field to the inspection of every single ear as it enters the facility.

We’re #ready4more at our Battle Creek production facility, and are looking forward to equipping you with the right seed for a successful next year!
