Harvest is in full swing and we are busy taking out plots. As I am helping harvest the plots, it looks like the shorter season corn in my area is leading the yields on dry land. Also, irrigated ground seems to be doing better than expected despite drought conditions.
For the upcoming year, I have heard many growers discuss reverting back to rotating their crops; therefore, there won’t be as much corn on corn acres unless it is on pivoted ground.
Many customers I have rode in combines with recently are ready to sit down and get their seed ordered for the 2013 season. Our 12% cash discount date is pushed back a few weeks this year to October 31, 2012, which is important to remember as you put in your orders. Also, our VT3PRO refuge in a bag 90/10 split will make ordering seed corn for our customers easier than ever. We have three new 106-108 day hybrids that have been doing very well in our plots as well. Remember all of these things as you put in your seed order this year!
Be on the lookout for yield results post cards, which will give you a clear picture of how our hybrids stack up in your area. This will help you decide what hybrids would fit best on your farm. Producers Hybrids will be there for all your seed needs and we are READY FOR MORE in 2013!
Have a safe harvest and I hope to see you at our after harvest meetings.
