It’s time for Corn Harvest 2012. This year’s harvest will be full of challenges. Are you ready?
Here are some tips as you hit the field this fall:
- Check stalk quality to determine which fields are the most vulnerable to going down and harvest those first
- Prioritize your fields. This allows you to have a plan in place and a good idea of which fields are high-priority, medium-priority and low-priority.
- Scout your fields to see if aflatoxin, fungi that is common in hot, dry ears, is present. If it is, plan to harvest that field early.
- Look behind the combine. With the challenges we have faced this year, machine loss could be much higher than normal. Calibrate your combine to better harvest shorter plants and smaller ears.
- Adjust on the go. Since conditions will be different in each field, it will be highly beneficial to recalibrate your combine for the changing conditions.
We wish you a safe and bountiful harvest and thank you for choosing Producers Hybrids.
