Trey Kirlin is the Western Iowa Sales Intern, and he is familiar with the territory as he grew up on a corn and soybean farm near Modale, Iowa. Trey will be a senior at Iowa State University where he majors in Agricultural Studies and is involved in the Agricultural Business Club. He is also considering adding an Agronomy minor before he graduates in May of 2018.
A typical day in Trey’s internship involves taking stand counts and soil samples, riding with District Sales Managers, scouting P3 trials and cold calling. Trey is excited to continue cold calling and host a field day in the future.
Trey says his favorite part of his internship thus far is having the opportunity to grow his sales skills and practice cold calling. He always enjoys learning more about how to be a successful salesman and looks forward to continuing that throughout the summer.
Trey has had two additional internships, both involving agricultural sales which is the area he hopes to find a career in. In the future, Trey also hopes to return to his family’s grain farm.
