Not every week can be the best week, right? While I am a firm believer that positives can be found in everything, sometimes we just have to look a little harder to find the positives. This week was one those weeks where I had to search harder to find the silver lining.
At the beginning of the week I was able to work quite a bit and got so much done that eventually I began to feel like I was running out of tasks. I used this free time as an opportunity to brainstorm new projects I could do and ended up coming up with a marketing idea that I am very excited to start working on. I then realized that the free time I had was a good thing because it gave me the opportunity to advance my internship in a way that I’m excited about and in a way that I know will help me in the long run.
In the middle of the week I worked with Kally Philipp, the Minnesota agronomy intern and Pete Wingert, a District Sales Manager in Minnesota. We were outside in the heat and humidity, making upwards of a hundred field signs. I was starting to feel frustrated from working in the heat, but then I realized that I was simply seeing marketing from the ground up. I was experiencing agricultural marketing the way many farmers do, by putting together field signs. After that, I had a much more grateful attitude. We were putting together high quality signs that were designed well and represented the company at the field level and I was glad to be a part of it.
Even with this blog, I thought I’d write about my experiences this week, but I ended up writing about my mindset this week. I’ve come to the conclusion that if you can look at a situation with a grateful attitude and open mind, you can find the silver lining in anything. So, this week I encourage everyone to keep an open mind, have a good attitude, and find the silver lining.
Stay tuned because I am #ready4more than ever and excited about the rest of my internship!
