Farm Safety Week: Stay Safe on Your Farm and Be #ready4more

September 18-24 is National Farm Safety Week, dedicated to making the public aware of the risks associated with safety on the farm. Safety risks can be found all around your farm, from the equipment in your shed to the grain bins holding your Producers Hybrids bin-bustin’ corn or soybeans. In our effort to always help you be #ready4more in all aspects of your operation, we’d like to share some facts and tips about farm safety.

Did you know that your tractor can be one of the most dangerous pieces of equipment you own? Nearly 125 on-farm deaths occur from tractor-related accidents, and even more injuries occur on tractors and other farm machinery. A large number of on-farm accidents also occur from falls or suffocation in grain bins – it’s estimated that 55 percent of grain entrapments result in death, and survivors often sustain serious injuries.

farm-safety-infographicsHow can you keep yourself, your family and your farm hands safe? Here’s a few tips to keep in mind:

  • Never work alone. Whether in the shop or in the bin, try to always have at least one other person with you.
  • Wear protective gear, including ear plugs, to reduce the risk of hearing loss and other bodily injury.
  • Complete regular safety checks on your farm, and remember to be aware of the heights of electrical lines on your property.

Use these tips, keep those facts in mind and be safe on your farm!
