To many folks across Producers Hybrids country, the “dog days” of summer are winding down. Contrary to popular belief, though, the term has nothing to do with dogs and everything to do with constellations. To the ancient Greeks and Romans, the “dog days” were in late-July – around the time of year when the constellation Sirius appeared to rise just before the sun. They referred to these days as the hottest time of the year. The name stuck throughout the centuries, although the meaning has been forgotten.
To everyone suffering through the tail end of the “dog days” of summer: keep cool, pull down your Producers Hybrids hat and get #ready4more cool weather in the future.
