Patience Tested

Terry Thies (DSM – Region 4, Eastern Nebraska)

Our patience has really been tested this spring, both from the farmer’s point of view and the agriculture wide perspective. This was the general consensus when I visited with my dealers and customers this spring about the wet weather and cold temperatures we have experienced.

Some guys went ahead and planted when they shouldn’t have, despite our recommendations, and a fair amount had to replant due to rotting of the seed or corkscrewing. Like I said earlier, it was VERY tempting to get rolling with the planters but we have to remember it’s not like it used to be due to the larger equipment we have to work with and the fact that we can get it done in less time. Patience usually pays off.

Right now, a lot of my guys are wrapping up corn and switching to beans, so this planting season really won’t last long if the weather holds. Several guys are still taking time to put in plots for us and we really appreciate their effort on this as we know everybody wants to keep the planters rolling.

I better get back in the country because my phone keeps ringing for service and that is the name of the game at Producers Hybrids. I look forward to servicing your needs. Please, do not hesitate to give one of the DSMs or your local dealer in your area a call because we are here for you!
